Vijayawada: The 12-day long Krishna Pushkaralu, which comes once in 12 years, concluded on Tuesday with Pavitra Harathi being performed at Pavitra Sangamam ghat in Vijayawada. Scores of devotees thronged to the ghat to witness the fireworks display organised by the State government to culminate Krishna Pushkaralu.
Ace shuttler PV Sindhu along with her parents and coach Pullela Gopichand attended the event. Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Minister Atchennayudu, officials, Sri Ganapathi Sachidhananda Swamy were present.
Felicitating PV Sindhu on the occasion, the AP government gave away document related to 1,000 sq. yards in Amaravthi as reward for Sindhu. She was also felicitated by Ganapathi Sachidhananda Swamy. Speaking to media persons, Chandrababu Naidu called upon people to make an intention that PV Sindhu will clinch gold medal in the coming Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
More than 2.5 crore pilgrims are learnt to have taken holy dip in the river Krishna for the past 12 days in various ghats in Andhra Pradesh. In the wake of accidents being reported in the State, the AP CM also suggested the devotees to safely return to their destinations. In order to minimize last hour rush the AP government and the Railways made additional arrangements.
