Hyderabad: Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Thursday suspended 12 TDP MPs, who’re agitating and raising slogans demanding Special Category Status (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh. The MPs from the ruling party in AP began raising slogans soon after the commencement of the House. MPs displayed placards at the Speaker’s podium and raised slogans against the discriminatory attitude of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA Government. TDP MPs rushed into the Well of the House and tried to disrupt the proceedings of the House. Subsequently, the Speaker has suspended 12 TDP MPs for four days.
The Speaker has also suspended nine MPs from AnnaDMK (AIDMK) for creating ruckus over Cauvery river water sharing issue. After suspending the MPs, Speaker adjourned the house till 2pm. However, after suspension also, MPs continued raising slogans in the house.
Speaker Mahajan said that the decision to suspend MPs was taken under Section 374A due to coming into the Well of the House and violating the rules. TDP has 16 MPs and AIADMK has 37 MPs in Lok Sabha.
Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Butta Renuka, Nimmala Kishtappa, Galla Jayadev, K Narayana, Thota Narasimha, Malyadri Sriram, Maganti Babu, Muralimohan, Avanti Srinivas, Ramohan Naidu and JC Diwakar Reddy were among the suspended MPs.
