When compared to the last year, the success ratio has decreased and it is 8.5%, whereas, for the year 2017, it was around 10%. There are two major releases slated for release this friday and the success ratio will still be at around 9.6% even if they end up as successful films. The number of clean Hit films has also come down as count is 10 this year, whereas, for the year 2017, it was 14.

Even the revenue is down when compared to last year as 164 films combinedly has collected 810 Cr distributor share in Domestic Markets when compared to 1140 Cr of 2017. Even if we takeout Baahubali 2 which had collected 250 Cr share, the cumulative share for 2017 was still be at 890 Cr – higher than 2018. There was an advantage of GST in the first half of 2017 when compared to this year which can be valued at around 35Cr.
Big Ticket Films :
Rangasthalam : This film registered a comeback for Ram Charan who had been struggling for a success for the last four years. It has emerged as the third film after the mighty Baahubali series to collect over 100 cr distributor share in Domestic Markets. MEGA Comeback …Isn’t it?
Aravindha Sametha & Bharat Ane Nenu : Both the biggies have collected big amount of shares but incurred minor losses for few buyers due to high selling price. Hence we are categorizing them as Above Average.
Pawan Kalyan & Allu Arjun have given disasters in the form of Agnyaathavaasi & Naa Peru Surya in 2018
Medium/Small Ticket Films :
Geetha Govindam : This is undoubtedly the biggest surprise of the year for people in trade as no one expected it to do revenue of this sort. The film has collected over 55 Cr share from domestic markets alone. It is also the Biggest Blockbuster of the year on the basis of Return of Investment.
Mahanati : This film has emerged as the biggest Tollywood Grosser among Female Oriented Films & had even run for straight 50 days in few A centres.
RX-100 : Made on a low budget & sold for less rates, the film has made very good returns for the buyers. It fed theatres even in C centres which generally isn’t the case with small ticket films.
Chalo & Goodachari – Both the film have emerged as the highest grossers for the actors Naga Shourya & Adivi Sesh respectively.
Varun Tej has scored a hit with Tholi Prema and is testing his luck again this week with Anthariksham 9000kmph.
Films like Bhaagamatie, Hello Guru Prema Kosame & Taxiwaala are largely own release and sailed through the valued mark. They can be termed as Hit.
HOTSTAR OF THE YEAR – Vijay Deverakonda :
Vijay Deverakonda is Telugu 360’s hotstar of the year who upped the ante with Geetha Govindam. Besides the Blockbuster Success, what made him special is bouncing back twice with a success immediately after scoring a disaster (Ye Mantram Vesave & Geetha Govindam , NOTA & Taxiwaala)
Nandamuri Balakrishna has scored a success with Jai Simha & another small budget flick ℅ Kancharapalem has ended up as a success giving profits for Suresh productions. But that was due to very low buying price. The film could have done much better in Multiplexes at least.
Sudheer babu has a very mixed result this year as his first release Sammohanam is an average grosser while Nannu Dochukunduvate is a Disaster !
Another small budget flick Hushaaru is running in theatres making decent revenues in A centres which can be called as average fare overall.
Awe! & Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi has to settle for Average Verdict as the films could have done much better in the targeted A centres.
Gopichand & Sumanth has below average grossers with Pantham & Subrahmanyapuram respectively.
Naga Chaitanya has a below average grosser with Shailaja Reddy Alludu whereas Savyasachi ended up as a Disaster. He ain’t progressing up in the number game of his league
Naga Shaurya who tasted his career biggest hit with Chalo has also scored a Miserable Disaster with @Nartanasala . The film was a literal washout leaving huge losses for Buyers.
Kalyaan Dhev who tried his luck with Vijetha has failed to make any mark. The film was a Disaster
Sushanth, Sumanth Ashwin, Sunil & Allari Naresh have continued their flop streak with Chi La Sow, Happy Wedding & Silly Fellows respectively.
This year is forgettable for heros like Nagarjuna, Nithin, Nani, Ravi Teja, Sai Dharam Tej, Bellamkonda Sreenivas, Kalyan Ram, Nikhil & Raj Tarun Sundeep Kishan, Nara Rohit & Vishnu Manchu as all of their releases have ended up as failures (Ravi Teja is the highest among them with hat-trick failures. Rest all except Nikhil faced 2).
Dub Films:
The much anticipated 2.0 is the highest grosser among dubbed films which is expected. But the film has resulted losses for buyers with just 70 percent recovery. It has collected 51 cr share making it the first dubbed film to achieve 50cr share mark in Telugu States.
Vishal has scored a Super Hit with Abhimanyudu after a long gap of 3.5 years.
Vijay has scored a second consecutive Hit with Sarkar . The film has collected over 18cr gross with 8.65 cr distributor share giving good profits for buyers.
Padmaavat, Avengers: Infinity War , The Nun & Mission Impossible: Fallout are the other successful films among dubbed ones.
Samudra Puthrudu aka Aquaman has done decent to good business but the high buying price has made the film to settle for Average Verdict.
