If there is ever a combination that has a chance of breaking the box office records of SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali 2, it should definitely be the Shankar – Rajinikanth combo which reunited for the costliest Indian film ever, 2Point0, a sequel to their 2010 science fiction thriller Robot.
In terms of its pre release business, 2Point0 has surpassed the record set up by Baahubali 2 in Kerala. According to the latest reports, the distribution rights of 2Point0 for Kerala region have been sold for a whopping 16 Crores to August Cinema, a noted distribution house owned by actor Arya and cinematographer Santosh Sivan.
Baahubali 2 was sold for 10 Crores and got a release in across 300 screens. Now, 2Point0 has set a new benchmark and is likely to open in nearly 500 screens, thus making for the biggest ever release in God’s Own Country.
2Point0 stars Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson in supporting roles. The film is slated for Summer release.
