Superstar Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated film 2Point0, directed by Shankar, is going to have a grand release on November 29th. Despite getting postponed several times, the heady combination of Shankar – Rajinikanth and the presence of Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson have been creating an unprecedented buzz on the film.
2Point0 is also creating ripples in Tollywood trade circles. Star producer Dil Raju and few other big-ticket producers of Telugu quoted solid price to bag the theatrical rights in Telugu states. Renowned distribution company Asian films already paid some advance to Lyca Productions to release 2Point0 in Telugu. But, Lyca is not willing to give the theatricals at the price quoted by Asian films. So, they are likely to take a huge gamble with 2Point0 Telugu release.
It is learnt that Lyca Productions is planning to release 2Point0 on their own in Telugu states. As Rajinikanth commands a solid market among Telugu audience, Lyca is looking to cash in on the humongous craze.
As Rajinikanth’s previous two films failed badly at box office, it will be a risky attempt to release 2Point0 directly in Telugu states. Though Lyca is aware of the risk factor, they are willing to release on their own. Let’s wait and see if their risk pays off or not.
