Hyderabad: In what could be a major jolt to Congress party, three more MLAs from the grand-old party may shift their loyalty towards the pink party. Sangareddy MLA Jagga Reddy (Jayaprakash Reddy), Bhadrachalam MLA P Veeraiah and Bhupalpalli MLA Gandra Venkataramana Reddy are reportedly moving towards TRS party, according to sources. With this latest defection, the total strength of TRS will be 103 out of 119 in the Telangana Assembly.
Already 10 Congress MLAs defected to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). With the latest addition of three MLAs, the total number of Congress MLAs leaving the party will touch 13, which is over two-third strength of 19 MLAs of Congress. With the two-third of majority, the defectors will be in a comfortable position as they can merge the CLP (Congress Legislature Party). Telangana Assembly is scheduled to meet in the first week of June.
It will leave Congress party with six MLAs — TPCC chief Uttamkumar Reddy, D Sridhar Babu, Seethakka, Rohit Reddy, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Rajagopal Reddy– in the Telangana Assembly.
TRS has alredy taken two TDP MLAs into its fold. Two rebel candidates after winning the Assembly elections held in December 2018, joined TRS, which won 88 Assembly seats. This made total tally of TRS to 92. With joining of Congress MLAs, it went to 105.
