The Centre is making all efforts to gain the lost confidence ahead of 2019 polls in Andhra Pradesh. The Railway Ministry announced that 4 railway stations. Vijayawada, Guntur, Kurnool and Guntakal, in Andhra Pradesh will be awarded International Status. Railway Ministry will be sanctioning Rs 25 crores to modernize and develop amenities in each Railway Station.
The Railway Ministry issued orders asking the respective railway stations to send proposals by April 10th.
Meanwhile, though it is a welcome move to an extent, many feel that the latest move is like an icing on the cake. ‘BJP is frustrated with the ongoing political developments in AP. It realized that it would be too late if it doesn’t start acting immediately. The recent movie is an example of it.
But the decision to choose those four stations are highly dubious. What about Vishakhapatnam? If Guntakal and Kurnool Railway Stations deserve international status, why can’t Vishakhapatnam? Will Rs 25 crores be sufficient to modernize a railway station to international standards?’, questioned a political activist.
