The brain drain from the Engineering Colleges to the government jobs is increasing each day. In 2003, the now President Pranab Mukherjee, headed a parliamentary committee of 44 MPs which tabled a report recommending that engineering and medical graduates should be banned from appearing for the UPSC examinations.

But as the years passed, the engineering graduates are not leaving any job untouched. It not only includes B.tech graduates but also students who pursued M.tech, MBA and MCA courses. In the recently held examination for SI, RSI, Deputy Jailer, Assistant Matron in Andhra Pradesh as many as 38.62 percent of candidates are B.tech graduates or Post graduates. The recruitment which was conducted for a total of 707 posts, as many as 699 posts have been filled up. In the final list, 270 aspirants selected are MCA, MBA, BTech holders.

Of the total 1,23,937 applicants, 62311 are degree applicants, 31370 are B.tech candidates and 31370 are candidates who completed Post Graduation Courses. In the changing times, such large number of engineering graduates will surely change the due-course of the Police services in long run.

Another noteworthy thing is the number of women aspirants selected is beyond the 33 percent reservation limit and as high as 42.51 percent. For the 355 jobs of Civil SI posts, 151 women candidates got selected. On the contrary, for the SI AR posts which had 20 percent female reservation, only 15 percent of posts were filled up by women. A total of 170 women aspirants secured jobs even though 11582 women applied..
