Katamarayudu boxoffice, Katamarayudu collections
Pawan Kalyan’s latest release ‘Katamarayudu’, which suffered huge dip on the 4th and 5th day (weekdays), posted impressive numbers on the 6th day, thanks to Ugadi festival.
After raking in around Rs 43Cr+ in the first weekend and another Rs 4 Cr in the next two week days, Katamarayudu has collected a distributor share of Rs 4 Cr on the Ugadi festival day. With this, 6 days worldwide share reached to approx. Rs 52 Cr.
Breaching into Rs 50 Cr club is no more a milestone for Tollywood stars, especially Pawan Kalyan. However, Katamarayudu has helped Pawan become the only star with four films having Rs 50Cr+ share (Gabbar Singh, Attarintiki Daredi, Sardaar and Katamarayudu). Mahesh Babu (Dookudu, SVSC and Srimanthudu) and Allu Arjun (Race Gurram, S/o Satyamurthy and Sarrainodu) are jointly second with three films each to their names.
These records don’t matter much as the Pawan starrer action entertainer is expected to end its theatrical run leaving holes worth Rs 20-25 Cr in the pockets of buyers, as per trade analysts. The worldwide theatrical rights were valued at Rs 85 Cr but as per the current trend, Katamarayudu may wind up with Rs 60-65 Cr share, unless a miracle happens.
As the holidays have just begun in the Telugu states, Katamarayudu is expected to take advantage of them and have a decent run for another week at least. Venkatesh’s ‘Guru’, slated for March 31 release, is the only notable film that has dared to take on Pawan-Shruti Haasan starrer.
We need to wait and see how far Pawan’s charisma help Katamarayudu sustain at box office. Meanwhile, the pressure on Trivikram will be huge in the wake of disappointments like Sardaar and Katamarayudu.
