Venkaiah Naidu often relates everything with the word “attitude”. When talking about government initiatives he said “Demonetisation was to bring attitudinal change”. When critiquing other political parties, he said “AAP should give up confrontational attitude” and also “people are upset with Congress attitude”. In fact, when speaking about the country as such he said “Nation has come a long way in overcoming a regressive attitude”. His echolalia is “Modification of mind”
But when it comes to him, Modification, attitudinal change hardly matter. BJP was able to appoint Presidents in various states but in Andhra Pradesh. Though the website says that K Haribabu is the President but he has already completed his tenure. Neither was he given enough power, nor the state BJP leadership is being given a chance to choose their President. Despite backtracking on Special Category status, the UP elections could have removed the dullness in the party, evident from the increase in enrollments. But Venkaiah’s personal focus, one-sidedness, needless controversial attitude, and constantly praising CMs of AP and Telangana is disliked by the state BJP leaders. The minister’s attitude has been obstructing them from rising in the state politics.
The union minister’s years in office seemed to be marked by nepotism. He was able to select his favourite K Laxman as BJP President in Telangana. Outgoing Kishan Reddy had a confrontational attitude but Laxman is mild in critiquing people. Not so impressed by the recommendations of the national leadership, and unable to find his favorite, Venkaiah has left an abyss in Andhra Pradesh. The AP BJP leaders are of the view that if they are unable to choose their president, how will they establish themselves in the state. Disgruntled by the delay, a young BJP leader questioned RSS Incharge about this situation. The RSS Incharge responded by saying that Venkaiah is unable to find replacement, so nothing can be done. The BJP MPs from the Telugu states are voiceless when it comes to facing Venkaiah. The Union Minister is comfortable with postponements but will not compromise or change his attitude.
