Whenever one thinks of India cinema, the first thing that strikes their mind is Bollywood. Since its inception, Hindi cinema has largely dominated the Indian box office. It was only in the recent past South cinema has made its presence felt in the Nothern territories. Films like Robot and Baahubali : The Beginning breached the regional barriers and showed the stamina of South cinema. Now, Baahubali 2 is setting new benchmarks for Bollywood by shattering each and every record at the North Indian box office.
While the entire nation is in awe after witnessing the epic grandeur on screen and saluted Rajamouli and his team for their efforts, Bollywood remained tight-lipped about the film. Apart from Karan Johar, who distributed the film in North, none of the big names from Bollywood publicly responded about the film. Southern stars like Rajinikanth , Dhanush, Sudeep and Mohan Lal lauded Baahubali 2 as the pride of Indian cinema, but Bollywood stars and directors are yet to comment on the film. Even many political bigwigs heaped praises on the magnum opus. Bollywood top stars and directors are reticent about the film’s grand success. It looks like they are envious about the fact that South cinema has started to make inroads into their territory.
Baahubali 2 has stunned the trade circles as it cruised past the opening day records of the biggest Bollywood hits like Dangal , Sultan and PK by a huge margin. Looking at the way the Hindi version is performing, trade is expecting a sensational haul in its full run. In Overseas too, Baahubali 2 is set to surpass the life time collections of Aamir Khan’s Dangal in less than a week.
