Guntur: YSR Congress president and Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Tuesday, issued a serious warning about conducting the Assembly session scheduled for the second half of this month. “You can’t run the Assembly session,” he warned and wanted Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to address the issues of the farmers in the State.
Jaganmohan Reddy addressed the people concluding his two-day protest here. He listed out the steep fall in the prices of agriculture produce starting from Chillies to Mangoes and appealed to the government to intervene and help the farmers. He wanted the government to enter the markets and provide minimum guarantee price to the farmers who were either destroying their produce or committing suicide. He said that the farmers of 18 varieties of crops were looking for help from the government as the prices in the market have come down alarmingly.
The YSR Congress chief said that the Chief Minister was planning to hold two-day special session of Assembly this month to pass the GST Bill. He said his party and the farmers in the State would not allow the government to conduct the proceedings of the Assembly. He wanted the Chief Minister to solve the farmers’ issues first before thinking of the GST.
