Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had launched the Hospital Linen and Laundry Service Programme through live streaming from the Velagapudi Secretariat. Under this service, clean and hygienic bed sheets and pillow covers with colour coded lining strips on a daily basis would be supplied to all hospitals.
The service has been launched for 13200 beds under first phase across all teaching and district hospitals in the State. The government has outsourced this service to Leotech Process from Vijayawada. The project was agreed to cost the government Rs 10 crore.
Poor quality linen and irregular washing of bed sheets have led to increased infection rate among patients and to address this issue, the Chief Minister earlier asked the Medical and Health Department to come up with this unique service. Keeping in view the above things, today the linen and laundry services have been launched.
The Chief Minister had also decided on the colour coding for the bedspreads in the government hospitals which has to be followed across the State. The code that was decided was, Violet on Monday, Organe on Tuesday, Magenta on Wednesday, Green on Thursday, Brick red on Friday, Blue on Saturday and Yellow on Sunday. The programme will be monitored on a real time basis and it will be reflected on the CM’s core dashboard.
The Chief Minister has urged all doctors and nurses to adapt -“Patient- First” attitude. “More than doing normal procedures, doctors should adapt “Patient-First” mentality. That means they have to work with courtesy, respect and dedication.” the Chief Minister said. He added that doctors and nurses not bring their bad moods to work. He asked the department to engage an agency to provide training in soft skills to the hospital staff.
