Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu confirmed to the Tundurru Aqua Park Vyathireka Porata Samithi that there is no going back on Tundurru Aqua Park which only aggravated an already tense situation in the village. The villagers staged a protest on Thursday night when the management, was attempting to transport the equipment into the factory. Women turned up at the panchayat office with kerosene cans disapproving the move.
The opposition parties and the people of the village have been opposing the establishment of Aqua Foodpark as the area will be not only polluted but also the locals are worried about the loss of employment. However, the government is trying to accelerate the construction of the factory. So, the owners decided to transfer the kits to the factory in 12 lorries avoiding villagers in the dark. The operation was done by dispersing the trucks in different locations at the outskirts of the village. Police officials were deployed as security for the vehicles. The villagers started gathering after they comprehended that one of the truck was carrying the factory equipment. They blocked the lorry at the night and soon all the villagers gathered at the Panchayat office. The situation was edgy as the locals contended with the police. The villagers telephoned to Minister Pithani Satyanarayana who asked them to send at least one lorry. The villagers refused to oblige to the minister’s request and raised slogans in the dark. Consequently, all the lorries were sent back.
After the Chief Minister’s statement, none of the opposition parties came in support of the Tundurru residents. One of the three issues, that Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena said it fighting upon is “Godavari Aqua food park”. But there has been no word from their party office or the leader himself. The people’s agitation is continuing from past two years against the project. It may be noted that Opposition YSR Congress Party chief Jagan Mohan Reddy in State Assembly demanded the relocation the aqua food park being set up by the Bhimavaram-based Ananda group, a leading seafood exporter in the state. Evidently, both the parties gave up on the issue.
