TRS legislator Shankar Naik who misbehaved with Mahabubabad district Collector Preethi Meena was arrested on Thursday. The district collector lodged a complaint against the MLA for inappropriate behavior. A case was registered under Section 353 and 354 at the Mahabubabad police station. On Thursday morning, the MLA surrendered at the police station. After a preliminary enquiry, Naik was granted bail and left for the district Camp office.
It may be noted that the collector accused the MLA for behaving immorally with. As per the reports, there has been unrest between the MLA and the collector for the past few years. Naik apparently criticized Collector Meena publicly and even requested the government several times to transfer her. He allegedly requested the Chief Minister to relocate her from the district. Collector supposedly replied sternly to the files and cases related to Naik previously. She came down heavily on a few controversial issues related to the MLA in the past.
The collector broke down to tears after the legislator touched her on Wednesday during Haritha Haram program at NTR stadium. With the Opposition leaders waiting for a chance to target the ruling party, the chief minister immediately responded and asked the legislator to apologize.
