Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu is reportedly planning to deploy a seasoned politician or a senior bureaucrat in Delhi apart from the resident commissioner. This move comes as a reaction to the delay by the Central Government in clearing proposals related to the state. The CM is allegedly of the belief that, due to lack of coordination in the national capital, the Greenfield shipyard project did not even reach the preliminary levels. GoAP is reviewing the MoUs, the numbers realised and their status.
It may be recalled that Union government stated that the state government did not contact them for setting up Greenfield shipyard in Visakhapatnam, consequently eliminating the prospect of one coming up. Chandrababu allegedly expressed disgruntlement at the response of the Centre, especially entering into MoU with United Shipbuilding Corporation(USC) of Russia last year at BRICS summit.
Even though the Chief Minister instructed a time to time review of MoUs, the departments have shown least interest in following up. The role of APIIC has to be closely monitored, especially due to the negligence or delay despite EDB’s efforts to attract businesses. As per the reports in DC, entrepreneurs are facing issues in getting clearances from APIIC.
GoAP is now looking for gaps in the innocuous reply from of the Union Ministry of Defence.
