Andhra Pradesh government felicitated Vice President Venkaiah Naidu at Velgapudi on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, Venkaiah said that the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh was done unfairly and said it’s time to let bygones be bygones. He reminded the state of its responsibility to fight for its rights.
He shared that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi teased him about being available for Andhra Pradesh always. Vice-President advised that members of the Legislature should act in way that upholds the respect of the Assembly. In his style, Venkaiah said while the government proposes anything and the Opposition may oppose it, but the House has to dispose. Accordingly, he said he will run Rajya Sabha sessions adhering to this principle and work for its revival.
He thanked the government for the felicitation and said that such events remind him of his responsibilities. Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu said “I am retired but not tired”.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu hoped that Venkaiah’s blessings will be there for the state. Governor ESL Narasimhan said that Venkaiah will remain a Telugu bidda evident from the rally from Gannavaram to Prakasam Barrage today.
Vice-President laid the foundation stone for construction of 2.25 lakh housing units in Amaravati. This was the last file signed by Venkaiah as Union Minister for Urban Development.
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Governor ESL Narasimhan, Speaker Kodela Shiva Prasad, Union Ministers Sujana Choudhary, Ashok Gajapathi Raju and others participated in the event.
