Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan on Tuesday extended support to the Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University students of Andhra Pradesh who are protesting against the controversial Government Order No.64. He said, “allowing individuals from colleges with IARI accreditation and adding to that allowing fake degree holders will ruin farmers and economy”. Terming the implications as “serious”, he hoped that the TDP government understands the repercussions of G.O. 64.
What is G.O. 64?
Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Department has been mulled with controversies for for recruiting graduates who have not studied in colleges accredited by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for almost a decade now. The G.O. MS 16 was introduced by Chandrababu Naidu in the year 2000 in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh where in graduates have to be accredited by ICAR. The new G.O. 64 deleted the words “accredited by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research” from GO16. Students have been protesting that this G.O. 64 will ultimately regularise the services of the ineligible graduates in senior positions.
