Indian origin three-year old Sherin Mathews went missing after her father made her stand at around 3:00am on Saturday next to a tree 100metres outside her home as a punishment for not drinking milk.
Wesley Mathews who went outside 15minutes later to check on his daughter failed find her. Five hours later he filed a missing complaint with the police.
Sherin who was adopted 2years ago from an orphanage in India, had developmental issues and limited verbal communication issues. Mathews was detained by the police on a charge of abandoning or endangering a child on Saturday and was released on Sunday night on a $250,000 bond.
In the due course of investigation, Mathews said that coyotes have been spotted in the alley. While the search is on for the three-year-old, her 4year old sister was shifted to Child protective services.
