Reports reaching Hyderabad say the bandh call given by non-MIM opposition combine is being observed peacefully in various parts of state. The bandh call is given by Congress, TDP, BJP, CPI CPM and YSRC ,demanding one-time waiver of crop loans to the farmers in Telangana instead of settling it in piecemeal manner. In Karimanagar, district, the strong-hold of ruling TRS, the bandh is complete. Congress, TDP, Left parties, BJP and YSRC leaders participated in bandh by staging a sit-in in front of the RTC bus station by not allowing the buses to move out.
State Mahila Congress Narella Sarada, former Minister D. Sridhar Babu, DCC President K. Mruthyunjayam, former MP Ponnam Prabhakar, former whip Arepalli Mohan, former Z.P. Chairperson A. Laxman Kumar, and other district leaders squatted in front of RTC bus station.
The TDP leaders led by its president Ch. Vijaya Ramana Rao and others staged dharna at the other gate at the RTC bus station complex. The leaders of Left parties led by CPIM member G. Mukund Reddy, CPI secretary K. Ramgopal Reddy and others participated in the dharna at both the gates and moved frequently on to the roads enforcing the bandh.
Talking to Telugu360.com from the police station after arrest, Mahila Congress president Sarada said people in the district were fully backing the bandh. ” In Karimnagar town, all Congress and other party leaders have been in bandh since 5 am and staged dharna in front of Bus station complex. All the buses were off the road. Business community also joined the bandh. No shop is open. Participation is voluntary,” Sarada said.
The night-halt buses which were proceeding to various destinations via Karimnagar had to be stopped due to bandh. Heavy police forces were deployed at the RTC bus station complex to prevent any untoward incident. Similarly, the patrolling had also been intensified in the town to check the clashes and violent incidents during the bandh.
