Meeting of the Tamil Film Producers Council went haywire as producers demanded the resignation of its President Vishal. Producers who voiced against Vishal are mainly T Rajender and Cheran. Main allegation against Vishal is that- he is not working for fulfilling the promises made by him at the time of his election as the chief of the body.
The Annual General Meeting of Tamil Producers council was convened to amend its bye-laws related to membership of the council. The proposal was to introduce a rule that only those who had produced and released at least three movies would be permitted to be on the rolls of the body and have the right to vote in the elections. But the meeting took political color as many of Vishal’s opponents questioned his bid to contest RK Nagar bypoll as there is still lot of work to be done for producer council. They asked if he really wish to contest elections he can do so after resigning the post he is having currently. The meeting abruptly ended after accusations and counters between the chair and the section of members.
It is known news that Vishal attempted to contest the December 21 by-election to the RK Nagar assembly constituency amid opposition from a section of the film producers. His nomination was rejected days ago by the Returning Officer on the ground that it lacked 10 valid proposers. Final byte in this entire episode is that the Returning Officer of the Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar Assembly constituency, who was at the center of the controversy over rejection of the nomination papers of actor Vishal, has been transferred by the Election Commission.
