Mohan Babu’s latest offering Gayatri is termed as one of the biggest disasters in recent times. Despite getting decent reviews and talk, the film quickly fizzled out at box office without any trace. While the reasons why audience have not shown interest in turning up for Manchu family’s films are obvious, Mohan Babu, who has also produced the film besides playing the lead role, has blamed piracy for the film’s box office failure.
Speaking recently to press in Hyderabad, Mohan Babu lamented that piracy menace is continuing to afflict Tollywood as it is eating away the revenues. Mohan Babu said he took a lot of strain and toiled hard for this film. He deplored that all hard work went down the drain due to piracy.
He said the pirated version of Gayatri was available in internet right from the first day. Those who resort to this menace will definitely pay to their sins, cursed Mohan Babu.
Well, Mohan Babu’s emotional outburst can be understood given that fact that the film failed to recover even the expenses despite getting decent feedback. But, attributing the entire cause for the film’s poor run to piracy alone is quite silly because other films which too got pirated and also rated very low collected better revenues than Gayatri
It is time Manchu family reinvent themselves and find a way to attract audience instead of passing the buck on piracy alone.
