Former minister and senior Telangana Congress leader Dr Marri Sashidhar Reddy urged the Election Commission of India to relieve state chief election officer Bhanwarlal and GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar from the election duties and institute an inquiry into the charges of selective deletion of names from the electoral list.
He said their continuance would prejudice the outcome of the elections and any attempt to continue them was unconstitutional and undemocratic and it would cause immense damage to the process of free and fair elections. He also requested Election Commission not to take note of the earlier illegal deletions and not to act on the names identified for deletion, to whom notices were allegedly issued.
.
“CM KCR himself set a target of 15 lakh bogus voters to be deleted in GHMC area, when he reviewed the Aadhar linkage programme by summoning the CEO Bhanwarlal on 21.07.2015. EC should take serious action against CM KCR,” he said.
Alleging that the deletion was a conspiracy, Dr Reddy said the ruling TRS was working to delete names of settlers (35%), Muslim minorities (30%) and Hindi speaking / North Indian (10%). He also said CM KCR, CEO Bhanwarlal and DEO and Commissioner GHMC Somesh Kumar were key conspirators. Dr Reddy who once represented Sanath Nagar constituency of Hyderabad, said the justification for the deletion of names of voters shifted, housed door-locked, duplicate, voters were dead etc. were a big fraud and it was only pretext to delete the names from the list.
