The ruling Telugu Desam Party had decided to organise its annual Mahanadu event this year, 2018, in Vijayawada. The meeting would be held in the last week of May every year. The party coordination committee meeting which held here under the chairmanship of Chandrababu Naidu had zeroed in on the venue for the Mahanadu for this year. The meeting also resolved to organise Tirupati-type meeting in Visakhapatnam on May 20, where the party would explain to the people about the betrayal of the BJP and the conspiracy of the YSR Congress against the State.
Last year the TDP held its Mahandu in Visakhapatnam and this year it will be in Vijayawada. The three-day annual event would also mark the election of the party national president, besides political resolutions to be adopted in the backdrop of the changing political equations. The TDP’s fight for the special category status and its future course of action against the BJP are likely to dominate the agenda of the party’s Mahanadu this year.
As next round of elections to the State Assembly and Lok Sabha too are scheduled to be held before the next Mahanadu, the TDP is likely to take a call on the party’s strategy to take forward the twin issues of fighting for the Special Category Status and election campaign.
