Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan is now targeting the north Andhra voters of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts. He is currently camping in Visakhapatnam and set to start his 45-day long padayatra from May 20. Surprisingly, he is staying in Ambedkar Bhavan, not a star hotel, just to project himself as a different politician from the rest.
The Jana Sena chief had already made his image carved in the hearts of the people of this region by raising the voice for the victims of the mysterious kidney disease in Uddanam area. The people here are the sufferers of the kidney disease and several people have lost their lives over the years. There is no treatment available for them and even the dialysis is done in Visakhapatnam making it impossible for them to come every time travelling for a long distance and spending huge money. Their cries went unnoticed for all these years. It was only after Pawan Kalyan visited them, the State and the Central governments moved and opened dialysis centers here ending the treachery. Though the deaths have not come down, the medicines and dialysis had come to their vicinity giving them some relief and it had won the Jana Sena chief several hearts.
He is now targeting these same voters as he prepares for the 2019 elections. Less educated and emotionally attached, these voters are found to be the best bet for him in terms of electoral gains. After Sardar Gowthu Lachanna, the region had no acceptable leader for them and Pawan Kalyan wants to fill this gap. In his 45-day long walk in the region, he wants to focus the backwardness of the region and highlight the problems of the people, including migration of the poor from here to work as domestic assistants in Vijayawada, Hyderabad and elsewhere.
If he wins this mission, Jana Sena will get at least half a dozen MLA seats from the three districts making him comfortable in politics.
