Finally, YSRC also entered the fray of Warangal Parliamentary constituency byelections. The party has announced the name of noted Dalit activist Nalla Suryaprakash Rao as the candidate. Telangana YSRC president Ponguleti Srinivasulu Reddy announced the name of the Suryaprakash on Tuesday.
He said YSRC was banking on the welfare work done by the YS Rajasekhar Reddy as the chief minister of united Andhra Pradesh.
” There has been no match for the YS Rajasekhar Reddys commitment for the upliftment of dalits in the state. People cherish the fond memories of YSR and they are sure to bless the candidate of YSRC” he said.
Reacting on the criticism that the YSRC was fielding candidate only to help TRS by bringing about a split in the anti-establishment vote, Srinivasulu Reddy dismissed the charge as baseless. ” Like all other parties, YSRC has every right to field its candidate in the by-elections. It is absurd to ask the YSRC not to field the candidate while they fielded their own candidates much in advance. It is unacceptable to the party,” he said.
If the opposition parties were genuine to defeat TRS, he said, the YSRC was ready to field a common candidate from opposition parties. “Still there is enough time to file nominations. Let’s all opposition parties meet and decide upon a common candidate.” he dared.
He said that as a prominent member of the dalit movement in the state, Nalla Surya Praksh was the right member to represent the Warangal Lok Sabha constituency.
