Congress, which has been confident of winning the Warangal (SC) Lok Sabha constituency byelection with a thumping majority suffered a major setback due to sudden and suspicious death of daughter in law and grand children of Congress candidate Sirciall Rajaiah. In a fire accident that occurred early morning Wednesday Sarika and her three sons Abhinav(7), Ayon (3)and Sriyon (3) were burnt alive. The causes of fire accident were not known. Police DIG Sudhir Babu said the investigation had been launched and he would come out with more details in due course. Collector Vakati Karuna also visited the accident spot. Both Rajaiah, son Anil were also present in the house when the fire broke in his revenue colony residence. According to sources, Sarika reportedly wrote the AICC urging the party not to field Rajaiah as his family had been ill-treating her allegedly for extra dowry.
Rajaiah’s daughter in law has differences with her husband and in laws has been living separately. There was a quarrel about the letter between Sarika and Rajaiah last night also. Rajaiah and Anil came to the house last night only to inquire about the letter.The accident occurred against this backdrop.
Many women organization staged dharna in front of the Rajaiah’s house and demanded serious action under domestic violence act and sections related to the murder. They also urged the Congress to withdraw his nomination.
Meanwhile, the party shocked by the incident is now scouting for a replacement. TPCC president uttam Kumar Reddy rushed to Warangal with a B-from for new candidate as the Wednesday is the last day for filing the nominations.
Uttam Kumar is said to have contacted Sarve Satyanrayana, former union minister, to enter the fray on behalf of the party. AICC general secretary, in charge of Telangana Digvijya Singh also spoke to Sarve and convinced the former minister.
