Pawan resumed his ‘porata yatra’ after a gap. As always, his tour at S.Kota today also seen huge crowds attending. Even though many media channels are not covering ‘jana sena news’, Pawan doesn’t have his own media, and Pawan announcing the details of tour in the last minute, still people are turning in huge crowds and that seems to have surprised many political opponents. So new debate is going on in some political circles and media circles that is it because of left parties mobilization, Pawan’s meetings are drawing huge crowds.
Of course, Pawan’s all tours have drawn huge crowds till date. His North Andhra tour witnessed huge crowds attending and it clearly demonstrated charisma of the actor in this region. Some of the analysts, who subtly support other political parties started new argument and idea, probably to convince themselves, that Pawan’s meetings are getting huge crowds only because of Left parties and their ability to mobilize the crowds. But how much of this argument is true?
Firstly, there is no doubt that left parties have ability to mobilize crowds. They demonstrated this several times in past. But that doesn’t they have the ability to mobilize the crowds on daily basis. In the past whenever they did mobilize crowds, they did it for a day or couple of days and that too mostly while fighting on a specific issue. They don’t have the history of mobilizing crowds on daily basis, at least in Telugu states. If they have such ability to mobilize crowds on daily basis- they would have been in much better position in Telugu states. Because the ability to mobilize crowds on daily basis proves that political party either has money power to do so or the party has huge following among people and people are coming for those meetings voluntarily. It seems, left parties don’t fall in any of these two categories.
Secondly, these are the same analysts and critics who ridicule left parties as “tail parties” and as “good for nothing”. But now they want to attribute the huge crowds for Janasena meetings to the same left parties. It is to be noted here that, Pawan used to draw huge crowds even before joining left parties and that too with short notice of time. In India, especially south India, charisma of super stars cannot be underestimated in pulling crowds and that’s the reason even conventional parties want some cine glamour in their parties. If film heroes themselves start political parties, it is very common to see huge crowds attending their parties. How many of them will really vote is a different question. Even after debacle in 2009 elections, Chiranjeevi’s meetings convened after election results too drew huge crowds.
So the analysts don’t have to attribute all the crowds at Pawan meetings to left parties alone. Maybe left parties’ cadre and Pawan’s glamour is synergistically working and that might be reason for huge response from people for Pawan’s meetings.
