Tej I Love You Review
Telugu360 Rating 2/5
Mega hero Sai Dharam Tej needs a big hit to revive his career graph. Director Karunakaran, after a brief hiatus, is testing his form with Sai Dharam Tej’s ‘Tej I Love You’. Let us see how this film has shaped up!
Story:
Tej, who lost parents at very young age, is raised by his uncle (Jayaprakash) family. Tej protects a lady from goons by killing them when he was in early teens. She neither could thank Tej nor provide evidence in the courts that he is innocent, Tej goes to jail for 7 years. When he grows up as an adult, Tej becomes a part of ‘crazy boys’ band run by another uncle (Prudhvi Raj). An NRI girl Nandini (Anupama) comes to India on a specific purpose and falls in love with Tej after he impresses her in multiple occasions. When all is going well, Nandini loses her memory in an accident.
Rest of the story is about how Tej & his friends bring back Nandini’s memory.
Analysis:
This story takes off at a village near Annavaram, moves to vizag and then Hyderbad. Tej with his friends belong to a music band. Tej loves Nandini at first sight. In initital scenes, director tries to establish a feel-good family environment but fails in setting up the characterizations. After not being able to stich any family elements, youth elements were attempted in college but the result is same. There is ample scope to generate humor as well as youth appealing moments but Karunakaran has shown outdated skills. One wonders if this is the same director who make Youth Icon such as Toliprema or decent entertainers such as Darling. As typical in love story films, Nandini takes some time to love Tej, by the time he is about to express her love, a tragedy happens to her. ‘Andamaina Chandamama neevena! ‘is the only appealing song in first half.
Once Nandini loses memory, Tej and his friends attempt to establish her that she used to love Tej. Those entire set of scenes back to back are farce. It’s beyond our comprehension that how such lame output was possible with respectable combination of producers and director. Nowadays any film, either small or star-studded, by a seasoned director or new comer, carry some positive elements atleast. This film lacks any such. Gopi Sunder’s music has only two melodious songs.
In second half, story moves back to Tej’s village. With a sort of unimpressive twists the story comes to an end.
Performances:
Sai Dharam Tej, who has shown ease in mass roles, has attempted a class flick first time. He is Okay but doesn’t seem comfortable in lover role. If he wants to have a long innings in Tollywood, he really need to watch out his body. He looks bloated at times. Anupama Parameswaran has acted adequately as Nandini.
Hero’s friends are miscasting including viva harsha.
Positives
- Sai Dharam Tej, Anupama have performed reasonably well.
Negatives:
- Poor Story & Direction
- Zero feel in love/emotions
- Except one song, remainding are dull
- Comedy did not work
Verdict:
‘ Tej I Love You ‘ disappoints big time with it’s meaningless story which even got worse by boring direction. There ain’t any five minutes’ moment that we could mention in positive light. Director Karunakar who has brand value for youthful films failed to generate any love or feel good emotions this time. Sai Dharam who is working hard to mark his comeback has to wait for another turn.
