Janasena party chief Pawan Kalyan has constituted party committees and announced the names who will be heading these committees. However there have been critical comments on these appointments. There are mainly two critical comments on these appointments. First, none of these members are known faces to general public. Second is, most of the posts are given to Kapu community. Let’s see whether Pawan did a blunder or is it a strategic move.
Appointments:
Hariprasad has been appointed as Pawan Kalyan political secretary and Madasu Gangadharam is appointed as the convenor. K Chidambaram is appointed as Head of legal cell of the party. Vijay Babu is appointed as spokesperson.
Background of these members:
Hariprasad has been with Pawan for more than a decade now and it is obvious that Pawan is preferring loyalists instead of experienced after seeing Praja Rajyam fiasco. Madasu Gangadharam also has been in touch with Pawan for more than a decade and he has vast experience in congress party back-end team. At a point of time, he had access to Rahul Gandhi to give ground level feedback. Chidambaram, who has been appointed as legal cell head, has strong clout on AP bar council and he was also head of advocate JAC during Samaikyandhra movement, 2013-14. Vijay Babu was RTI Commissioner in United Andhra Pradesh state and he was very much known face to news channel audience too.
First critical comment is that these are not known to public. But it is obvious that all these members have vast experience in their field but have worked mostly back-end and so not known faces to general public. Moreover most of these members have been loyal to Pawan Kalyan for quite some time.
Second critical comment is about giving most of the party posts to Kapu community. It is obvious that the same thing is being done by many other regional political parties. Moreover these are not new people into party but they are already in party for quite some time. But Pawan Kalyan announcing these members just before starting his Godavari district tour is looked as strategic move rather than a coincidence. Background of those appointed in district committees is yet to be known.
Anyway we will have to see what value addition these members will be doing to the party in coming days.
