Telangana Premier Kabaddi League (TPKL) begins at Saroornagar Indoor Arena today. The 8 teams which are participating in Telangana Premier Kabaddi Season II are Hyderabad Bulls, Rangareddy Raiders, Warangal Warriors, Karimnagar Kings, Nalgonda Eagles, Gadwal Gladiators, Palamuru Panthers and Mancherial Tigers. This is regional avatar of the Pro Kabaddi (PKL) at national level. TPKL entered the sports league in 2017 and TPKL’s matches are scheduled between September 14-30.
Silly monks digital’s stakes and film connections:
Telangana Premier Kabaddi was created by Chintala Sports, in cooperation with Telangana Kabaddi Association. Silly Monks, digital media entertainment player, announced that it has acquired a 51% stake in Chintala Sports Private Limited which is curator of Telangana Premier Kabaddi League (TPKL). Silly Monks has worked with movie production houses that produced Baahubali, Rudramadevi and Mahanati and so has good connections with films industry. It has also produced the first-ever Telugu web series for Amazon Prime, Gangstars.
Nalgonda Eagles bought by Sai Korrapati, SS Rajamouli& SS Karthikeya
Sai Korrapati, SS Rajamouli and SS Karthikeya now owns a team in TPKL, Nalgonda Eagles. Karthikeya announced through twitter, “Excited to step into a new era of sports. I and Sai Korrapati garu are very proud to present our @TPKNalgonda team for the Season 2 of @TPKabaddi. Come watch the game and witness the wrath of Kabaddi from Sept 14th” Rajamauli also tweeted – “Kabaddi has become a rage in the Telugu states since the last few years. Extremely happy to be mentoring the @TPKNalgonda team. Can’t wait to watch them play in the arena. @TPKabaddi #AsliKabaddi”, he tweeted.
So far Nalgonda Eagles team only is owned by film background people. As the sport is gaining popularity in the Telugu states too, it is expected, slowly TPKL may also attract even more film celebrities to own the teams.
