As per the latest reports coming out, former CBI JD, Laxminarayana is all set to float a new party in couple of days. It is known news that he took voluntary Retirement from the police service to join active politics. Ever since he resigned, there have been rumors on him joining TDP or BJP or Janasena. He even attended RSS meeting intensified speculations on him joining BJP party. However, the recent reports are suggesting that he will float his own party rather than joining these parties.
Options Lakshminarayana has:
Immediately after resigning from the service, he started touring entire state of AP and now finished touring all 13 Districts. He is saying that he has prepared a manifesto, keeping in mind plight of the farmers. He even announced that he will join into the party that considers his manifesto. However, he had certain limitations because of which he can’t join YSRCP and he may not join Congress as the party doesn’t have any prospects in AP. This leaves him the with the of TDP or BJP or Janasena or his own party.
Bureaucrats and new parties:
As per reports, he is getting ready to float his new party in couple of days instead of joining these parties. Bureaucrats floating new parties is not a new phenomenon in India or even in AP. In fact recently another ex-bureaucrat and MP Kothapalli Geetha floated her own political outfit, Jana Jagruthi. However, as of now, there is no buzz on that party. Earlier Jayaprakash Narayana floated Loksatta party that garnered 1.4% votes and 1 seat in 2009 elections. It’s performance was even worse in 2014 and party has gradually faded out from political screen in Telugu states. In fact JP himself doesn’t have much clout on the party now.
Netizens response on these rumors:
Lakshmi Narayana has good following among youth, mainly because of the high profile cases he handled. Also he is from Kapu community that has major chunk of population in AP. But the rumors on Lakshminarayana floating own political party received mixed reactions. In fact, it is trolled by some section of people in social media. They are saying such decision will only help ruling TDP as he will be splitting anti-incumbency votes. They are even going to the extent of saying – if he really floats a new party, it will prove that he has colluded with ruling TDP. Usually such new parties, that are floated just before elections, will split anti-votes and thereby help ruling parties. Already, netizens are making similar allegations on Kothapalli Geetha’s recently floated party.
Finally:
Bureaucrats forming new parties is not a new phenomenon but the trends suggest, most of these bureaucrats fail in running political parties. Of course there are some exceptions like Kejrival. As of now Lakshminarayana forming a new party is just a rumor. We will have to wait and see how true are these rumors and how will be his political future.
