The Central Crime Branch of Bengaluru police carried out searches in the mansion of mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy in Bellary. They found presence of secret lockers in the walls there but nothing was found inside till now.
Armed with firm evidence, the Crime Branch is making hard efforts to catch Janardhan Reddy who is facing charges of having received Rs 18 cr bribe for saving the accused in the Ambidant scam. There are allegations that Gali bribed an Enforcement Directorate official upto Rs 1 cr in the case.
The Bengaluru police are in hot pursuit of Janardhan Reddy for the last three days but he has been on the run. There are rumours that Reddy might have already escaped to a foreign country. If it’s true, then the Central agencies will have to play a greater role in catching him.
The Karnataka political scene turned hot after the recent bye poll results in which Congress-JDS allies bagged four out of five seats. The BJP relied heavily on the Gali brothers whose influence was rejected by Bellary people this time.
