Everything went off peacefully. The two and hour long meeting between chief minister Chandrababu Naidu and movie star Pawan Kalyan did not produce anything that is sensational but helped to some extent reveal the mind of the Power Star. The dress of Pawan Kalyan, Panche, clearly conveyed that Pawan is a mellowed man. The Panche and white shirt don’t represent aggressive mood in modern times. Now it is clear that henceforth he won’t be participating in any aggressive campaign either for farmers’ cause or state’s cause, the special category status. He seems to have postponed everything to the 2019, when he said, he would be discontinuing with his moonlighting with politics and become full blown politician.
After the meeting in CM’s camp office, the man, who once issued ultimatum to the state government that he would not sit idle if the farmers lands were taken against their will, said violent protest for the special status would not give results. He advised the people to wait till centre announced its decision this way or that way. In his view waiting would pay dividend, not the dharnas and gheraos. ” One should work systematically if one wants get results,” he said and refused to elaborate on the systematic way. He said the union government had never said no to the demand for special category status. He assured those who were waiting for his call on the special status that he would certainly announce his action plan, but not before the centre announces his decision, he said. Today he spoke more like a BJP leader than Power Star Pawan Kalyan or a TDP leader, when he said there was no deadline for the centre to take a final decision upon the demand for special status.
He said he met the chief minister only to convey his greeting for the conduct of Amaravati Foundation stone laying ceremony successfully. ” I could not attend the function. I thought it would be in the fitness of things if I meet the chief minister in person and convey the greetings as I was away in Gujarath in a shooting on October 22, 2015,” he said. He admitted many issues figured in the meeting like land acquisition in the capital region, farmers’ issues, special category status, proposal to mine bauxite from the Agency area and special status, of course.
He was thankful the chief minister for deciding against acquiring the farmers lands by invoking land acquisition act. He was all appreciation for Naidu for this. Pawan told media that he asked the chief minister not act against the well-being of Tribal people with regard to bauxite mining. I requested the chief minister to reconsider the matter keeping in view the sentiments of the people living for centuries in the Agency area. Denying that GHMC figured in the meeting, Pawan said he was hoping to become a full-time politician by 2019. ” Just the support from the people is not enough, we need money. We hope to become active by 2019 (when next elections are due),” he said.
What is the force that mellowed Pawan so much as to shun all that is political questioning, aggressive nature, dharnas, gheraos etc. Beyond this politics is part of government- a dubious activity these days.
