Taking it as a prestigious election, TDP has brought in former MP and industrialist Nama Nageswara Rao to ensure certain victory in Khammam assembly constituency. Nageswara Rao has actually plans to contest the Khammam parliamentary constituency polls in 2019. But TDP president and AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu made him to enter the assembly election fray to take on sitting MLA and TRS candidate P. Ajay.
TDP is using all its resources considering the importance of Khammam segment to prevent ruling TRS from getting a foot hold in this election. TRS Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao has been making huge efforts to ensure their party victory in this segment. Over the past three years, he has made special efforts to strengthen the party in Khammam town limits. Now, there are 43 TRS corporators in the town and the TRS is taking their total commitment to use their local following to ensure Ajay’s victory.
Among the OC voters, Kammas are a dominant community in the segment and both TDP and TRS have fielded candidates from this community. There are over 37000 Muslim minority voters who play a crucial role in deciding the fate of candidates’ winning chances. TDP is expecting support from minority voters by spreading the secret understanding of TRS with the BJP.
Nama Nageswara Rao is also pinning hopes on the Mahakutami allies’ united efforts. CPI is promising to make its strong contribution to TDP victory. The communists have a considerable presence in Khammam town from the beginning.
TRS is hoping to win the seat as it has implemented development programmes worth Rs 1000 crore in the past four and half years.
