Following complaints lodged by TRS leaders with the Election Commission, Balanagar Zone police Cyberabad Commissionerate have conducted raids and searches in the residence of Congress Leader and candidate of Gajwel Mr. Vonteru Pratap Reddy, who is contesting against Chief Minister Mr. KCR.
On Monday afternoon, TRS leaders including MLC D.Rajeswar Rao and recently joined leader Gattu Ramachandra Rao lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mr. Rajat Kumar stating that Mr. Vonteru Pratap Reddy was planning to distribute money to voters. They also requested the CEO to install CCTV Cameras at the sensitive and hyper sensitive villages in Nagarjuna Sagar segment, where congress senior leader Mr. Jana Reddy is contesting from Prajakutami, as their polling agents were attacked in the previous elections.
Based on the complaint against Mr. Vonteru, the CEO directed Balanagar zone police to take necessary action on the matter and the police conducted raids and searches at the residence of Vonteru located under their jurisdiction at 10pm. Mr. Vonteru and his followers prevented the police from entering into the house, but, the police did their job and announced that there was found nothing.
While the police was on duty, Mr. Vonteru threatened them by pouring petrol himself that he would end life by self-burning. The police prevented him from the action and sped up the searches which were ended in just half-an-hour.
