The Congress and the TRS are locked in a tight contest in Medchal segment while the BJP and the BSP are threatening to divide considerable vote to leave an impact on winning chances of favourites. TRS lost its former strength in the segment after ticket aspirants shifted their loyalties, posing a threat to its candidate Ch. Malla Reddy. He is facing former MLA Kicchannagari Laxma Reddy who is contesting on Congress ticket.
Nakka Prabhakar Goud, who has put lot of hopes on ticket, quit TRS and he is contesting on the Bahujan Samaj Party ticket. Another TRS leader Singireddy Harivardhan Reddy left the party and joined the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) and announced his full support to Congress nominee. Now Malla Reddy is relying heavily on the strength of TRS cadre in the segment and on the achievements of the KCR government.
Unfortunately for TRS nominee, Medchal is home to considerable number of settlers from different places both from Telangana and Andhra. Their vote is expected to be greatly divided because of the presence of BJP and BSP. Peddi Mohan Reddy is the BJP candidate here and he is making serious efforts to poll their party vote bank without diversion. BJP is suffering a low morale right now but their traditional voters are present in large numbers.
‘Praja Kutami’ leaders are confident that their nominee would win over TRS with the combined strength of the allies. Moreover, the recent public meeting of Sonia Gandhi had drawn good response, which is seen as a major advantage for the alliance parties. Sonia meet was made a huge success by alliance leader to make it appear as a show of unity. This became a big advantage for local candidate Laxma Reddy.
