As electioneering is coming to an end, there is talk TRS is still somewhat strong in rural Telangana while ‘Prajakutami’ has favourable winds in urban centres especially Greater Hyderabad area. With this in mind, Congress and TDP leaders are making plans to win as many seats as possible in urban centres by taking advantage of their alliance. The new scenario is giving a tough time to KTR who has taken the responsibility for TRS victory in Hyderabad region.
There are nearly 24 assembly segments in Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Cyberabad areas. Of these, the MIM has strong presence in 7 segments because of dominance of muslim minorities. Leaving them aside, the Prajakutami leaders are making a strong bid to win all the remaining 17 segments. Traditionally, both the Congress and the TDP have strong cadre base in these segments which is one basis for Prajakutami candidates’ big hopes on victory. The allies are also tightening grip over surrounding segments like Chevella and Medchal.
On the other hand, KTR is putting in every effort to mobilise support from friendly groups and communities to ensure TRS victory in these Greater Hyderabad segments. Though initially confident, KTR is now feeling heat because of the united attack launched by the Congress and TDP leaders in the last few weeks. The challenge for him is much greater in Kukatpally and Serilingampalli segments where the TDP is very strong.
In the municipal corporation elections, KTR could all his resources and get victory for TRS but the assembly election is an altogether different game. Moreover, the Congress and the TDP have joined hands and they are working with a vengeance to oust the KCR regime.
