Congress leaders are exhibition renewed confidence in the victory of People’s Front in Telangana early poll. Congress Telangana President Uttam Kumar Reddy says their alliance will win 75 to 86 seats while the Telangana Rashtra Samithi will not cross 35 seats. Along with many senior Congress leaders, Uttam held a meeting on the post-poll scenario and discussed with his colleagues on how much majority their alliance would get.
Uttam Kumar said both TRS chief Chandrasekhara Rao and his son K Taraka Rama Rao boasted of their party winning 100 seats and more prior to polling but now they had changed that and began saying they would get 80 seats. But the ground reality was different and it was clear there was anti-incumbency factor because of the failure of KCR to fulfil his promises.
Uttam suggested several measures for ensuring fairness and transparency in the counting process to avoid all problems like those the cropped up on polling day. He suggested political parties’ representatives to be allowed to keep vigil at the strong rooms where the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) would be placed which is necessary to avoid any suspicion.
Uttam felt the election machinery has committed many mistakes during the process of conducting elections for which even Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar has offered his apologies to the people and political parties. Talking about the positive feedback, Uttam thanked the voters and party cadres at all levels for their support in the Congress fight against all odds.
