Superstar Rajinikanth wrapped up the shoot of Petta which has been announced for January 10th release. Veteran producer C Kalyan acquired the Telugu theatrical rights but with crisis for screens he wanted to release the Telugu version during the Republic Day weekend. The makers were not in a mood to accept this and they deferred with C Kalyan after which he walked out of the project. Then came Ashok Vallabhaneni who released Mani Ratnam’s Nawab.
He acquired the rights for huge price and announced Petta on January 10th. With NTR – Kathanayakudu on January 9th and Ram Charan’s Vinaya Vidheya Ram hitting the screens on January 10th, Petta will face a stiff competition across Telugu states. The film may not get a giant release as most of the Telugu biggies managed to get maximum number of screens.
Karthik Subbaraj is the director of Petta and Sun Pictures bankrolled the project.
