Former minister and Telangana Congress senior leader, Marri Sashidhar Reddy today dashed off a 17-page letter to the chief of Election to act immediately against the state chief electoral officer (CEO) Bhanwar Lal for his partisan attitude. He has sent video clippings of the interviews the CEO had given to various channels with translations to support his complaint and sought serious action against the official for violation of Section 13CC of the Representation for the People Act, 1950.
Some of the charges, Reddy has made against the CEO are :
* He (the CEO) has behaved like a protagonist of the TRS party and its president K. Chandrasekhar Rao and attacked other political parties in a loquacious manner and thereby violated all norms of civil service.
*Being on deputation to the Election Commission he is bound by the Superintendence, Direction and Control and discipline of Election Commission, as per Section 13CC of RPI Act, 1950.
* The people whoever viewed and watched the one-to-one programs (interviews) of Bhanwar Lal on different channels, would get the opinion that EC is corrupt and not insulated to the influence of the party in power, as EC has obliged ruling BJP in sending a team to the Telangana State for inquiring into the nexus between TRS party, the CEO and the DEO.
* Acting as a stooge of TRS political party and its President and Supremo Chandrasekhar Rao.
Sashidhar Reddy urged the election to remove Bhanwar Lal from responsibilities of CEO of Telangana state it the commission wants its office in the state function autonomously and constitutionally and fully insulated from external political interference.
