It appears there will be no agreement among anti-BJP parties to announce a common prime ministerial candidate prior to the coming general election. When it comes to possible aspirants, the list is long. There are Rahul, Mamata Banerjee, Mayawati and the last minute consensus candidate whoever it is. It is for certain the Congress, Trinamool, SP, BSP, TDP, JDS, DMK and many other parties will do anything to stop Modi to become PM again.
All these anti-BJP parties are praying for only one thing which is the BJP should not get majority to form the government. The Congress is anyhow ruled out as a party to get majority on its own in the present political climate. So, if there is going to be a hung Lok Sabha, there will be a real rat race among non-BJP leaders to make a strong bid for PM post. SP leader Akhilesh Yadav says it will be good if next PM comes from Uttar Pradesh as it is the largest state. He is indirectly supporting Mayawati.
There is also Mamata Banerjee whose fans and party leaders in West Bengal consider her as the best option for PM candidate for anti-BJP parties. DMK has announced Rahul as the best option. The post-poll scenario may spring surprises. The anti-BJP parties may consider even new names for PM in their bid to reach a consensus.
