Since the spectacular victory of KCR in Telangana last year, the TDP and other parties are opposing the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) more and more emphatically. AP CM Chandrababu Naidu takes objection to comments from the Election Commission and ruling BJP leaders. He wants all doubts to be discussed and clarified with regard to EVMs as this is very crucial for successful functioning a democratic country like India.
Naidu’s argument is there is 100 per cent chances to hack the EVMs and manipulate them to suit the winning chances of a particular party. The hacking is a major and constant concern with regard to electronic systems and gadgets despite advanced emerging technologies. It is because of this only electronic devices are not being used for the purpose of conducting election in almost all the developed countries.
The TDP demands that the Election Commission actively think over the doubts and concerns being expressed by many political parties without outright dismissing them. He says political demands are born out of people’s issues only and it is not correct to force the people to accept EVMs which are not 100 per cent safe.
