It is well known how parties like Lok Satta could not grow due lack of money and muscle power. All the major political parties these days are preparing well with their cash resources to counter rivals in every election. There is talk money will flow like water in the coming general election because of triangular and multi-lateral contests between national, regional and local parties across the country and in AP.
Then the question comes up how leaders like Pawan Kalyan and ex JD Laxminarayana will face their rivals? They are talking a about ideological commitments and fairness while the BJP, TDP, YCP and all other parties are selecting only candidates with all-round resources especially financial strength. Expectedly, Laxminarayana says the day should come back when a non-rich person can also contest election with confidence.
Ex-JD’s comment on commercialisation of electoral politics has come amid widespread fears of money power even threatening mainstream parties now. Pawan has also said some parties are mobilising thousands of crores to hijack election. The existing conditions throw up a challenge for average voter whether to go with a party with winning chances or prefer an ideological party with little prospects.
