It is known hundreds of Telugu students were caught in the fake university sting operation in US which triggered widespread concerns here in twin Telugu states. In a big relief to parents, about 30 students have reached Hyderabad airport on Monday morning. Their relatives and friends waited for long hours and received them. Their safe arrival renewed hopes among parents of those students who were still under arrest and those who were being tracked closely in the US.
The leaders of American Telugu associations like TANA have assured parents here of their full support to bring the remaining students back to India safely in the next few weeks. Already, the necessary legal help and financial support is being extended to the Telugu students there.
It is found that over 200 Telugu students are currently under custody of US officials. A very strict surveillance is placed on their movements as the officials have tied the trackers at their heels. The Indian Foreign Affairs Ministry has also initiated steps to extend support to Telugu students. Almost all the Indian students trapped by the US officials belong to the twin Telugu States. The US is looking at the immigration irregularities as a serious fraud and taking stringent action including undercover operations.
