Hyderabad: With an objective to check TRS and take on KCR’s charishma, Congress party is continuing its brainstorm sessions over strategizing new ideas for forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in Telangana. Congress chief Rahul Gandhi has decided to hold few more review meetings with the party MLAs, MLCs and senior leaders from Telangana.
After a dismal performance in the Assembly elections held in December 2018, Congress party now wants to revamp the way party is functioning to take on Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). Party senior leaders have suggested Rahul Gandhi to take up a massive revamp of the party structure to strengthen the grand old party in Telangana. During the first review meeting organized at Rahul Gandhi’s residence in New Delhi on Tuesday, Telangana Congress leaders gave a presentation on why TRS swept the polls and reasons for the humiliating defeat for the opposition party.
The TRS government had deposited amount under Rythu Bandhu scheme just three days before the poll date. The huge money spend by the TRS government under several welfare schemes had further taken a toll on Congress, they said. Further, the delay in finalizing the candidates by Mahakutami banner was another setback for the Congress party as TRS had successfully cashed it by showing it as failure of the alliance. More importantly, the traditional vote bank of TDP was shifted to TRS as yellow party’s MLAs and cadres joined the pink party, observed a senior Congress leader.
