Through several tense years, Bollywood has been a bridge between India and Pakistan. But recently with IAF’s surgical strike, the tension is set to burn this bridge as Pakistan has decided to boycott Indian movies and ads.
On Tuesday, the Information and Broadcasting Minister of Pakistan, Fawad Hussain Chaudhry announced a boycott of Indian films and ‘Made in India’ advertisements in the country. Fawad Hussain Chaudhry shared this statement through his Twitter. His tweet said, “Cinema Exhibitors Association has decided to boycott Indian content and no Indian movie will be released in Pakistan and also instructed PEMRA to act against Made in India advertisements.”
Relations between Pakistan and India have been tense since Pulwama terror attack and the tensions escalated after the recent attack. Experts believe that with the complete ban of Indian movies, Pakistan’s exhibition sector will be affected.
