The BJP is trying to take the maximum advantage out of the border conflicts while the Congress and its allies are found on the defensive. In a way, the opposition parties have given a good opportunity to Modi and Shah to derive electoral advantage out of the terror menace. The Congress leaders have asked for evidence of the Indian air strikes on Balakot terrorist camps in Pakistani border and this has come as an excuse for the BJP to launch its criticism.
Now, PM Modi is repeatedly talking about the Balakota air strikes only to expose the opposition. The PM is even re-interpreting it as an attempt by the opposition leaders to talk in favour of the Pakistani leaders. During election meetings, Modi asks whether anybody will clap and approve of Pakistan’s actions with regard to terrorist camps. The Congress leaders are trying to expose the diversionary tactics of Modi.
Because of the sensitive nature of border conflict and military operations, the opposition is unable to hit hard at the BJP. For example, the Congress leaders’ comments on Balakot have now become big opportunity for Modi to question the opposition’s attitude of criticism when the country’s soldiers are fighting terrorism on the border.
