The misuse of the Sakshi media is becoming more rampant ahead of the election. The paper has suddenly increased printing 5 lakh copies extra exclusively for free circulation among the people to influence them. These copies are being distributed free of cost among voters at the tea shops, restaurants, eateries, parks, etc.
The same strategy was followed by the YCP at the time of the 2014 election. This time, the YCP game plan is coming under the scanner of the Election Commission of India. The cost of 5 lakh additional copies being printed on daily basis may be included in the election expenses of the YCP. It’s because the entire content in Sakshi is openly in favour of the YCP and Jaganmohan Reddy.
The free newspaper gimmick is almost backfiring on the YCP leaders. The election officials have launched investigation into the allegations of free circulation of 5 lakh copies. It’s also being probed whether the Sakshi media is filing relevant documents towards the extra copies.
