The women voters usually do not wait for long hours in queues on polling day. They also do not make a second or third visit to polling station to cast their votes. But all this happened on April 11 AP polling day. Some women voters picked up arguments with polling officials to let them vote. Seasoned politician JC Diwakar Reddy said that like never before, ‘Ammavaarlu’ came to polling booths with a determination to get victory for Chandrababu Naidu.
Referring to DWCRA women and other beneficiaries, JC humorously said these ‘Ammavaarlu’ did not leave polling stations till they cast their votes and they were undoubtedly bringing good luck to CM Naidu. Immediately, Naidu asked him whether there was no hard work on his part in this regard.
JC explained that good luck would come to only those who put in hard work. JC Diwakar Reddy’s comments assumed significance in the wake of reports of overwhelming support from women’s groups. JC’s joy is that he expressed doubts on some segments in Anantapur district but now there are no doubts whatsoever. This is only due to wonderful response from lakhs of ‘Ammavaarlu’ who are women beneficiaries under various welfare programmes.
